I had the good fortune of accompanying some exceptional clients and now friends to the 2013 FEI 120 km Africa Challenge in Walvis Bay. Our horse was a phenomenal boy with the body and personality to prove it. We won that year. The way this family stood together and how they treated their horses is one reason I love my work. I was so blown away by this team’s excitement and passion and the ride that it drew me to one of my great loves, poetry. I wrote this for the team. I will be forever grateful for the beautiful experience and the chance to love a horse like him. Herewith, Zingdi’s poem…
Zingdi’s Poem
Beckoned again The Sandy shore,
“Come back to us and play once more”.
And so we answered the vast calling land
And arrived again, just as planned.
The ocean of dunes had moved from before
As the wind was persistent to settle a score.
Yet the air was more than welcoming to our team
The race in sight, the aim to achieve the dream.
Our day began before the crispy dawn
The excitement, by far, smothering the yawn.
The warriors in full clad and ready for gold
Away they melted into the sand set mould.
The grey, the mighty, the Arabian who speaks
He says what is needed, and then he sleeps
His tail is the flagship for many a friend
Helped us to follow around every bend.
His partner, a knight, as brave as can be,
Together no fear of the sand nor the sea.
Both pure of heart and noble in life
This team stood back to no struggle nor strife.
As the day began, till the day drew to a close
This grey got stronger, how nobody knows.
With intense honesty and immense pride
Nothing could hold back the power in his stride.
With wings at their flanks, they flew through the desert
God led their way as their potential was measured.
With love at their heels and prayer in their hands
They rode into home carrying the name of our lands.
“Come back to us and play once more.”
The country invited us back as it did before.
We return home with Heads held high,
Assured that next year again, we will FLY.
Milyn
“Our family’s path with Milyn and our horses began in April 2011 at SAIC in Nylstroom and what a wonderful road it has been. It has been 11 years of help through thick and thin. A road through stress where horses that were in pain had to be sorted out and the joy afterward when the fruit of the hard work could be harvested. It has been a successful road which without Milyn’s phenomenal knowledge and support would not have been possible. What a privilege to have her as part of our team. We can say with the utmost confidence to any person that is interested in using her services, that we recommend her over and over. You and your horse will without a doubt walk out at a higher level on the other side. Trust her diagnosis and recommendations. You will not regret it.
Thank you for the last 11 years Milyn and please for many more to come.”

I have worked with horses for 2 decades and have known them my whole life.
Every day it becomes more evident that God has gifted us with the presence of animals to help us find our way.
It often felt as if Zingdi had wings on his flanks, and I’m almost sure he envisioned it too. It was these wings that made him a winning horse.
When I met this special boy, he was a naughty “teenager”, but he knew his job and carried his rider with pride.
He remained full of beans as long as I had the pleasure of working with him.
My Jadie was my number one, but this pegasus was my second number one.
What a gift to have known him. As he matured, it was as if he knew how much work the rest of his team had dedicated to him and his every waking moment was focused on giving his family the same dedication in return.
Not long ago, Zings earned his angel wings, and I am sure he watches over those he loves and “lives” out his legacy as number one at his home as he did before.
Thank you to the De Meyers, in particular Elize, for allowing me to love your boy. He sits on my desk next to Jadie while I work.
I know I haven’t always been perfectly right for your needs and aspirations, but I don’t doubt anything I have ever been guided to, there is always a bigger plan; I believe there are many perspectives on the same thing; it just depends with whose eyes one is looking out. Know this – I have always given you my best and will continue to look with my heart and not my eyes because it gives me an invaluable different perspective. For this, I am eternally grateful.
Wouldn’t it be a lonely world if we all saw the same thing? I love you Zings. Milyn

Life’s challenges are our biggest paths toward growth.
I’ve come to learn that you need to delve in the valleys to reach the beauty of the mountains.
Many of us have overcome such challenges and experienced the power of growth from those hardships. I’ve personally experienced that in life, some doors have had to close to allow windows to open elsewhere. These windows have led me to my soul’s purpose.
